Summer brings river sport, outdoor culture and the final stretch of Chester's racing season. Event days can change road access, crowds and restaurant availability, so check the organiser before arranging the rest of the day.

October to December 2026
Autumn turns towards running, lights and Christmas. The fixed point is the official date; the useful plan is one booked event, one flexible meal and a simple route back to the house.
Chester Marathon and Metric Marathon
The full and metric marathons start at Chester Racecourse and affect parts of the city and surrounding roads.

January to March 2027
Early 2027 currently has one large confirmed road-running date. Theatre and venue programmes will continue to grow, so use the monthly gap as a prompt to check Storyhouse and the destination calendar, not as proof that Chester is empty.
Chester 10K
A city-centre road race with current entry, route and spectator information published by Active Leisure Events.

April to June 2027
Spring is likely to bring the half marathon, heritage activity and the beginning of outdoor programmes. Only one exact date is currently safe to print.
Chester Half Marathon
A half marathon through Chester and the surrounding countryside, with live entry and race information held by the organiser.
