Who is responsible
PauseUK Ltd, company number 11537248, is the controller for personal information it uses to operate Enjoy the Pause. The business is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office under number ZA682726.
Paula Revill-Jones handles privacy questions and requests. The contact page reaches her.
What this website collects
The public website has no user account and no payment form. The general contact form collects the name, email address, optional telephone number, optional proposed dates and message that you choose to send to Paula.
There is also a guest-details form, used only by guests who already have a confirmed booking and reached by a link sent with that booking. It is explained in its own section below.
Cookieless Matomo records aggregate page and link activity without setting analytics cookies or using a persistent visitor identity. Cloudflare may process standard technical information such as IP address, browser details, Turnstile validation, security events and request logs where needed to deliver, protect and diagnose the website.

The guest-details form
Guests with a confirmed booking are asked for the lead guest's name, home address, email address, nationality and an optional telephone number, together with the full names of any other adults aged 16 or over who are staying. A passport or identity document number and its place of issue are asked for only from guests who are not British, Irish or Commonwealth citizens.
Those last details are not collected because Paula wants them. The Immigration (Hotel Records) Order 1972 requires anyone providing accommodation for reward to record the name and nationality of every guest aged 16 or over, and the document details above for guests it defines as aliens. The records must be kept for at least twelve months and produced if a police officer or a person authorised by the Home Office asks for them. The lawful basis is therefore a legal obligation, not consent, and this information cannot be deleted on request before that period ends.
The form is delivered by this website's own server directly to Paula's email address, and nowhere else. It is not sent to a marketing platform or any other third party, no third-party code runs in your browser, and nothing is stored on your device by completing it. The form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that a person rather than a machine is submitting it.

Booking information
When you continue to the booking system, contact Paula or complete a guest-information request, the relevant service may collect your name, contact details, address, booking dates, party details, payment information, messages and information needed to prepare or safely provide the stay.
The booking system's own privacy notice applies to the information you enter there. Payment-card information is handled by Stripe, the payment processor, and is not stored in this website's code or analytics.
Why we use it
Information is used where it is needed to take steps at your request, perform the booking contract, meet legal and financial duties, protect legitimate business and security interests, or act on valid consent.

Retention and security
Personal information is kept only for as long as it is needed for the purpose collected, including legal, tax, insurance, complaint and contract requirements. Records that are no longer needed are deleted or securely disposed of.
Reasonable technical and organisational measures are used to protect information. No internet system can promise absolute security, so please use the authorised booking and contact routes rather than sending payment details or sensitive booking information through a public channel.
International processing
Some service providers may process information outside the UK. Where that happens, PauseUK Ltd expects the provider to use an applicable adequacy decision, contractual safeguard or other lawful transfer mechanism.
Your data-protection rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may ask for access to your personal information, correction, deletion, restriction, portability or an objection to particular processing. You may also withdraw consent where consent is the basis being used.
These rights are not absolute, and a legal or contractual reason may require some information to be retained. Paula will explain the position if a request cannot be met in full.

Children's information
The website and booking service are intended for adults arranging accommodation. Information about a child should be supplied only by a parent, guardian or responsible lead guest and only where needed for the stay.

Links to the booking provider, maps, social networks or another business take you to a separate service with its own privacy and cookie practices. Please read that service's notice before submitting information.

This policy may be updated when the website, providers or legal requirements change. The version published here is the current website notice.
