Cleaning between stays
The house receives a thorough clean between guest stays, using a checklist that covers rooms, equipment and key touchpoints. The team also records damage or faults so Paula can arrange anything that needs attention.
Paula's published cleaning process uses lower-impact products where suitable, followed by appropriate disinfecting and sanitising of frequently touched areas such as switches, door handles and handrails.
What we ask of guests
Please keep the house reasonably clean during your stay, wash hands when appropriate and tell Paula straight away if anyone becomes ill or if you discover a cleaning or maintenance problem.
- Place used towels in the bath before departure
- Put rubbish in the labelled bins
- Leave exits and stairs clear
- Supervise children around stairs and kitchen equipment
- Report damage, a fault or a safety concern promptly
Fire and carbon monoxide alarms
The house has hardwired Nest Protect smoke and carbon-monoxide alarms upstairs and downstairs, with battery backup and sensor night lighting. These must never be disabled or covered.
A fire extinguisher and first-aid kit are kept under the kitchen sink. The fire blanket and fire instructions are positioned near the back door. Current locations are also explained in the in-house guest information.
In an emergency
If there is a fire or immediate danger, leave by the safest available exit, call 999 and follow the instructions of the emergency services. The normal evacuation route is through the front of the building.
Do not delay evacuation to collect belongings. If an access or mobility need could affect your ability to use the stairs or leave the house, discuss this with Paula before booking.
Gas and electrical checks
The only gas appliance is the combination boiler, which Paula's live policy records as installed in 2019 and serviced annually. The domestic electrical installation is inspected on its required cycle, and portable appliances are checked regularly.
Do not use a domestic house socket to charge an electric vehicle; there is public charging a short walk away in the city centre. Do not interfere with alarms, the boiler, fixed wiring or other safety equipment.
Risk assessments
Paula maintains fire and general property risk assessments and reviews them when the building, guidance or an identified risk changes. The arrival information and guest guide hold the current operational instructions for the equipment actually in the house.
