How many bedrooms does Enjoy the Pause have?
Two, and both are double bedrooms. Both bedrooms and the only bathroom are upstairs; the living room, kitchen and dining space are downstairs.
Does the house have stairs?
Yes. There is one standard flight of stairs up to the bedrooms and bathroom, so the house suits guests who are comfortable with stairs. There is no bedroom or bathroom on the ground floor.
What kind of property is Enjoy the Pause?
One private, two-bedroom self-catering holiday home in central Chester, hosted by me. It sleeps four, with a king bedroom and a double upstairs, and the living, dining and kitchen space downstairs.
Where do I see live dates and prices?
The booking system holds live availability, prices and terms. Longer-stay discounts are applied against your actual dates, so trust the final checkout total rather than an old screenshot or an example price.
Can I change or cancel my booking?
I keep a flexible direct-booking policy. Cancel at least 30 days before check-in and you currently get a full refund; later cancellations follow the staged policy shown on the booking page and in your confirmation.
Date changes depend on availability and the amount of notice given. Separate travel insurance is recommended, including for UK breaks, because last-minute circumstances are not always refundable.
Can check-in or check-out times change?
Sometimes. Check-in is 3pm and check-out 11am. The changeover takes around four hours, so an earlier arrival or later departure needs agreeing first and may carry a charge.
Just ask when you book. What is possible depends on the stays either side of yours.
What cleaning is included?
The changeover clean is included in the price. My housekeeping team works to a detailed checklist, records any damage or faults, and allows four to five hours for the whole thing.
Clean, disinfect and sanitise, with carefully chosen products and particular attention to everything you actually touch.
Is parking available?
One guest parking space is provided at the end of Steele Street, approximately 10 metres from the front door. It is a standard space on gravel, not a designated accessible bay.
City-centre parking controls change, so follow the arrival information sent with your booking rather than older prices or passes you find online.
Are towels and bedding provided?
Yes. Both beds are made before arrival and towels are provided for the booked guests. The house also has a washer-dryer and laundry supplies for use during the stay.
What is available for babies and toddlers?
I can have a travel cot and a good amount of family equipment ready if we agree it in advance: baby blankets, changing mat, baby bath, booster chair, potty, child toilet seat, step stool, stair gate, toys, books and games.
Tell me the children's ages and what you need before you arrive. Some things I only have one of, and a few carry a charge, so it is worth confirming.
Are pets allowed?
Enjoy the Pause does not otherwise accept pets. Trained assistance dogs supporting a disabled guest are welcome, and there is no official UK registration requirement for assistance dogs.
Tell me before you arrive so I can prepare the house. If anyone has a severe animal allergy, do ask whether the house suits you, as I cannot guarantee a completely allergen-free environment.
Can I charge an electric vehicle at the house?
No. There is no dedicated charging point and portable domestic chargers must not be connected to a socket at the property. The house is mid-terrace without off-street charging provision.
The nearest public charging is the council's New Market car park on Hunter Street, CH1 2AR, about a ten-minute walk away, where the chargers run on the Monta network. There is a two-metre height limit on the entrance, which rules out a roof box or a tall van.
Charger availability, tariffs and even which network runs a site all change, so check a live charging map for your dates rather than trusting a figure printed on a website. Paula is happy to talk it through if charging will decide the booking.
How accessible or sensory-friendly is the house?
The ground-floor living space is open plan, but there is a step into the property and a flight of stairs to both bedrooms and the only bathroom. The house has calm colours, dimmable lighting, blackout curtains, weighted blankets, white-noise machines and visual arrival information.
